B- Professional information:
1- Program aims:
The objective of this program is to graduate an Emergency specialist capable of:
1. Dealing with all life-threatening conditions efficiently inside the secondary and tertiary care Health Facilities.
2. Assuring safety of emergency patient at site of its occurrence till the arrival of facilities.
3. Efficiently managing emergency condition, when encountered outside the hospitals in the presence of minimal facilities.
4. Applying safety measures for proper transportation and maintain treatment during this phase.
5. Utilizing the sophisticated facilities present at the emergency department including the operative theatre and ICU.
6. Planning an emergency and disaster plan for the affiliated health care facility.
7. Training, leading and motivating the emergency staff and related disciplines.
8. Educating the surrounding community with basic safety and first aid procedures that would save lives, eliminate danger and enhance prognosis.
2-Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOS):
2.a. Knowledge and Understanding:
On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:
2.a.1 Describe applied anatomy of head &neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, upper and lower limbs.
2.a.2 Discuss the physiological phenomena of vital somatic functions related to trauma especially the poly-traumatized patient, major surgical procedures common and uncommon medical emergencies.
2.a.3 Identify the causes, risk factors and patho-physiology of common and uncommon and serious life-threatening emergency conditions in both adults and children.
2.a.4 Identify the suitable pharmacological drugs to be used in medical, surgical emergencies, trauma and pain management.
2.a.5 Recall drugs requiring therapeutic drug monitoring and interpret results and define the effects of age, body size, organ dysfunction and concurrent illness on drug distribution and metabolism.
2.a.6 Identify less common presentations of the acute emergent medical and surgical problems in addition to trauma cases and their medico legal and ethical aspects.
2.a.7 Describe relevant drug therapy for the acute condition diagnosed on evidence based basis and beware of the role regulatory agencies involved in drug use, monitoring and licensing (e.g. National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) while prescribing your therapy.
2.a.8 Identify and manage the acute life threatening toxicological conditions, recognize and manage the less common rare presentations for toxicological emergencies.
2.a.9 Rapid recognition of acute life-threatening conditions and discuss the most likely diagnoses whether medical, surgical, traumatic or toxicological.
2.a.10 Identify the proper principles and procedures of safe transport with referral to the international guidelines for transporting acutely ill patient and adapting these principles on the available resources.
2.a.11 Identify the international principles, guidelines and definitions of emergency department planning and disaster management strategies.
2.a.12 Upgrade the knowledge about the various acute life threatening obstetric and gynaecologic conditions.
2.a.13 Discuss the pathophysiology and complications of trauma in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
2.a.14 Identify and manage life threatening neuropsychiatric emergencies.
2.b. Intellectual Skills:
On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:
2.b.1 Demonstrate the ability to take a focused informative relevant history within limited time and under difficult conditions for e.g. in severely ill patient or angry distressed patient/ relative.
2.b.2 Analyze data obtained from clinical interview.
2.b.3 Focus accurately questioning to establish working diagnosis / differential diagnosis and relate to relevant examination, investigation and management plan in most acute and common chronic conditions in almost any environment.
2.b.4 Use risk calculators and clinical scoring systems appropriately.
2.b.5 Utilize and interpret findings of advanced adjuncts to basic examination e.g. echocardiography, FAST ultrasound.
2.b.6 Utilize examination techniques to the variable acute clinical situations and being able to conduct examination while resuscitating the patient.
2.b.7 Develop observational protocols for high risk patients.
2.b.8 Decide the patient’s destiny whether discharge, referral to a higher level of care or observation in a Clinical Decision Unit (CDU).
2.b.9 Conduct frequent follow up for patients in CDU for change in risk stratification.
2.b.10 Construct a concise problems list and develop action plans while recognizing expert advice, up to date guidelines and algorithms.
2.b.11 Generate a hypotheses and knowing how to test refine and verify this hypotheses.
2.b.12 Utilize the different statistical methodologies, studies and their interpretation.
2.c. Practical & professional Skills:
On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:
2.c.1 Carry out the management of more than one patient in the ED at a time.
2.c.2 Prioritize sick patients using rapid triaging systems and recognizing the urge to commence resuscitation before the completion of full history and examination.
2.c.3 Respect time and being able to organize and lead the clinical team and managing the workload whatever.
2.c.4 Predict the prognosis and future risks for the acutely ill patient presenting to the ED.
2.c.5 Perform competently and professionally all advanced life supporting measures in acute life threatening medical, surgical, traumatic and toxicological emergency situations to both adults and pediatric groups.
2.c.6 Perform Advanced Cardiac and Trauma life Support (Adult and Pediatric) and knowing how to manage the patient post- arrest with ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation)
2.c.7 Diagnose and treat peri- arrest arrhythmias and know the indications, contraindications and side effects of the drugs used
2.c.8 Competently perform further steps and maneuvers in advanced life support.
2.c.9 Establish skillfully IV access including intra-osseous, central venous access and intra-arterial insertion with invasive arterial BP monitoring.
2.c.10 Conduct thoracocentesis and intercostal tube drain in life threatening thoracoabdominal injuries.
2.c.11 Conduct the peripheral nerve blocks.
2.c.12 Decide critical situations which require ventilatory support.
2.c.13 Outline immediate management options including initiation of non-invasive ventilation or invasive mechanical ventilation.
2.c.14 Perform efficiently procedures needed to manage a difficult airway including LMA, needle and surgical cricothyroidotomy.
2.c.15 Obtain adequate echo- cardiographic and US (FAST) images and Can interpret accurately in the clinical setting.
2.c.16 Follow up the patient’s outcome after the various emergent interventions and determine the benefit versus risk value for doing further interventions and put alternative management plans.
2.c.17 Report a patient status management and interventions done in a full comprehensive manner.
2.c.18 Appraise the value of efficient reporting and monitor the process of adequate complete reporting.
2.c.19 Perform efficiently lifesaving non-specialized minor surgical procedures.
2.c.20 Demonstrate the clinical data and outline the radiological and laboratory investigations relevant to the patient’s condition.
2.d. General and transferable skills:-
On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:
2.d.1 Identify the role of different team members and communicates appropriately fully respecting the responsibilities and viewpoints of the different members.
2.d.2 Cooperate with the team, work as team leader.
2.d.3 Communicate accurately and urgently according to the situation using appropriate means telephone, e-mail, written letter…etc.
2.d.4 Ensure the presence of efficient accurate and clear written referral letter to the recipient colleague on referring a patient.

7 ـ متطلبات الإلتحاق بالبرنامج (7): Program admission requirements :
مادة (17) : يشترط فى قيد الطالب لدرجة الماجستير
أ ــ أن يكون حاصلا على درجة البكالوريوس فى الطب والجراحة من إحدى جامعات جمهورية مصر العربية أوعلى درجة معادلة لها من معهد علمى معترف به ومعتمدة من المجلس الأعلى للجامعات، بحد أدنى تقدير جيد للتسجيل للماجستير و تقدير مقبول للتسجيل لدرجة للدبلوم.
ــ يسمح للحاصل على الدبلوم العالى وفقا لنظام هذه اللائحة وبتقدير جيد على الأقل، بتسجيل رسالة لاستكمال درجة الماجستير بشرط ألا يكون قد مر أكثر من ثلاث سنوات على تاريخ حصوله على درجة الدبلوم من كلية الطب- جامعة بنها- وبغض النظر عن تقديره فى درجة البكالوريوس وبعد موافقة مجلس القسم ومجلس الكلية.
ــ يسمح لطالب الماجستير بعد نجاحه فى الجزء الاول والثانى ولم يستكمل الرسالة خلال مدة القيد المحددة باللائحة ان يتقدم بطلب استكفاء والحصول على شهاده دبلوم التخصص , ويحق له التقدم لاستكمال درجه الماجستير مره اخرى خلال ثلاث سنوات من نجاحه فى الجزء الثانى.
ب ـــ أن يكون قد أمضى السنة التدريبية أو ما يعادلها ( سنة الامتياز ).
ج ـــ موافقة جهة العمل أو مايفيد انه طبيب حر
د ـــ أن يتفرغ للدراسة لمدة سنة على الأقل فى الجزء الثانى ( فصلين دراسيين ).
هـ ــ تسديد الرسوم ومصاريف التدريب واستهلاك الأجهزة
مادة (19) : مواعيد القيد وبدأ الدراسة :
أ ـ يكون التقدم للقيد بالماجستير مرة واحدة فى السنة خلال شهرى يوليو وأغسطس من كل عام . وتبدأ الدراسة لدرجة الدبلوم العالى / الماجستير فى شهر أكتوبر من كل عام.
8-القواعد المنظمة لإستكمال البرنامج: (طبقاً لما هو مذكور فى اللائحة)
مادة (29) : يشترط فى الطالب لنيل درجة الماجستير فى أحد الفروع الإكلينيكية أوالعلوم الطبية الأساسية:
أ- حضور متطلبات المقررات الدراسية والتدريبات الإكلينيكية والعملية والمعملية والميدانية بصفة مرضية طبقا للساعات المعتمدة على ألا تقل نسبة الحضور عن 75%، وفي حالة عدم استيفاء النسبة المذكورة يحرم الطالب من دخول الامتحان وإذا تكرر عدم الاستيفاء يلغي تسجيل الطالب.
ب- العمل كطبيب مقيم أصلى او منتدب (زائر) فى التخصص بالنسبة للعلوم الإكلينيكية.
ج – يشترط للطبيب الزائرالعمل لمدة سنة على الأقل فى قسم التخصص بالكلية بالنسبة للعلوم الإكلينيكية.
د- النجاح فى امتحان الجزئين الأول والثانى من الدرجة.
هـ- اجتياز الطالب الدورات الآتية :
w الحاسب الآلي ( دورة فى مقدمة الحاسب - دورة فى تطبيقات الحاسب الآلي ) .
w (أخلاقيات البحث العلمي- منهجية البحث العلمي – الإحصاء الطبي ) وذلك مع تسجيل برتوكول الرسالة على أن تكون هذه الدورات من داخل جامعة بنها .
ط - اجتياز اختبار التويفل بمستوى لا يقل عن 400 وحدة للماجستيروذلك قبل مناقشة الرسالة من أحد الجهات المعتمدة وفقا لمتطلبات الجامعة
و- إعداد بحث فى موضوع تقره الجامعة بعد موافقة مجلس القسم ومجلس الكلية ينتهى بإعداد رسالة تقبلها لجنة التحكيم مع نشر بحث مشتق من الرسالة في مجلة علمية معترف بها وذات موقع الكتروني ومسجلة بقائمة مجلات النشر بالكلية .

1- هدف المقرر: • To have fair knowledge about the anatomy of different organs for efficient surgical practice.
• To make the student able to imagine the surface anatomy of different body structure important for surgical application.
• To know the basics of surgical anatomy.
• To describe the embryogenesis of the different body organs and the emergence of various congenital anomalies.

• Providing basic and specialized services in relation with biopsy diagnosis in the practice of medicine and investigations.

1- هدف المقرر: • To educate students about the basic features of general bacteriology, virology, microbial genetics and mycology and to provide students with an understanding of the immune system, its protective functions and its role in the patho-physiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases.
• To familiarize students with the common infections and diseases of medical importance, their microbial causes, as well as laboratory diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of such diseases.
• To enable the students to practice the principles infection control.

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

2.a.2. Define the basics of antimicrobial chemotherapy and resistance.
2.a.3. Explain the physiology of the immune system, its beneficial role, its interaction with tumors, its deficiency conditions, as well as its detrimental role in hypersensitivity, autoimmunity and transplant rejection
2.a.4. Describe the morphology, culture, antigenic structure and virulence factors of microorganisms causing bactremia and sepsis. 2.a.5. Flash light the most important skin ,venereal infectious ,fungal and antifungal and outline the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of the most likely organisms causing such diseases
2.a.6. list the most important methods of decontamination, sterilization and principles of infection control.
2.a.7. Discuss the impact of molecular technology in microbiology and immunology.

• To equip students with problem solving, practical, IT and key skills derived from the collection, analysis, interperetation and representation of data and information in preparation for their careers in a variety of work environments

• To provide a clear recognition of the contraints and opportunities of the environment in which professional forensic science is carried out
• To give students an appreciation of the importance of the continuity of evidence from the crime scene to the court and an awareness of professional and ethical standards and practices ( including quality assurance ), and the importance of adhering to them

• 2.a.2.Explain the principles of crime scene investigation and will possess competence in the selection, use and development of a range of methods used in the location, identification, recovery, extraction, processing, preservation and scientific analysis at a crime scene and be able to present evidence in a mock courtroom.
• 2.a.3.State advanced skills in interpretation and discussion of the results of laboratory and crime scene data, in the context of the wider analytical problem, and recognize the significance of the results to industry/society in emergency conditions .

3- هدف المقرر: • To provide p of biomedical, patient care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease
• To demonstrate knowledge of biomedical, clinical and social sciences and to be able to apply their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.
• To use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care practices.
• To demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of health care teams

أ- المعلومات والمفاهيم : 2. a.1.RECOGNIZE the physiologic mechanisms that explain key findings in the history and physical exam during emergency
2. a.2.describe the etiologies, pathophysiology, clinical features, differential diagnosis and related diagnostic testing and management of common inpatient emergency medical conditions.
2.a.3. list the indications for the most commonly performed emergent imaging examinations.
2.a.4. demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy by recognizing key structures on various imaging modalities.
ب- المهارات الذهنية : 2.b.1 complete patient history and physical examination in logical manner .
2.b.2 evaluate and prioritize problems with which a patients presents.
2.b.3 formulate DD based on the findings from the history and physical examination and apply DD to help guide in emergency situations.
2.b.4 formulate an initial therapeutic plan and explain the extent to which the therapeutic plan is based on pathophysiological reasoning and scientific evidence of effictivness.
2.b.5 advise patients and colleagues on the risks, benefits, limitations and indications of the most commonly performed imaging examinations during emergency.
2.b.6 identify critical and high priority imaging findings on the most commonly performed imaging exams and discuss their importance in clinical patient emergency management.

3.c.1 Collect necessary data during history taking by asking focused questions to help the patient to recall all important data which may help in managing the case and manage the conversation professionally to exclude unimportant data.
3.c.2 Examine skin, hair, nails, mucous membranes and lymph nodes with perfection and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings..
3.c.4 Write medical reports efficiently.
